Climate

We have the ambition to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2050. To reach this, we are developing a comprehensive climate strategy and will set targets that reflect our most significant sources of greenhouse gas emissions, directly from our own factories and indirectly from the energy use of our freezer cabinets and the sourcing of key ingredients like cocoa and dairy. In our factories, we are already operating at over 60% renewable energy. Meanwhile, we are taking action to improve the energy efficiency of our ice cream cabinets and collaborating with suppliers to reduce emissions across our value chain.

Responsible Sourcing

We are committed to sourcing our key ingredients responsibly and in line with evolving regulations, including the EU Deforestation Regulation. We source cocoa and vanilla that are certified by Fairtrade and the Rainforest Alliance, dairy that meets verification under the Sustainable Dairy Partnership and palm oil that is RSPO-certified. These certifications help ensure that our supply chain supports ethical practices, environmental protection and sustainable agriculture.

Packaging

The Magnum Ice Cream Company is developing tailored approaches to packaging regulations and plastic taxes in each of our key markets, building on our strong track record of innovation. We were the first ice cream brand to introduce recycled polypropylene in our packaging—an industry milestone. In the EU, we’ve also led the way in sustainable packaging by launching plant-based tubs and lids for Ben & Jerry’s.

Social Strategy

We are committed to upholding human rights across our value chain. Following a human rights assessment, we are developing a comprehensive social strategy that builds on our existing initiatives. These include targeted programmes to protect workers in our supply chain—such as child and forced labour risk mitigation efforts with cocoa suppliers, cooperatives and farmers in Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana. In Madagascar, our Vanilla for Change programme supports vanilla farmers in strengthening their livelihoods and building long-term resilience.
